Burghfield Football Club – Meet the Committee
05 February 2016

We continue our series of profiling some of the key members of the Club’s governing committee, the passionate volunteers who give up their own time to run the Club free of charge for the benefit of the community. Simon Timperley is out Volunteer Coordinator – so expect to hear from him soon !.

Simon started helping out with the Under 7’s when his eldest son Jake joined Burghfield. There was only one coach at the time, so what he thought would be helping to put out a few cones turned very quickly into helping to run training, to managing a team, to becoming Head Of Age. He still has no idea to this day how that happened !

With no previous coaching experience Simon has enjoyed the journey, learning with the kids as they’ve progressed from 5-a-side to 7-a-side, and has been fortunate enough to recruit more coaches, who along with the parents have provided great support and assistance.

Having very recently joined the Committee as Volunteer Coordinator he will soon be pestering you all to help out at this year’s Burghfield Tournament which promises to be bigger and better than before and provides such a vital revenue stream for the Club.

It’s been a pleasure to watch, in such a short space of time, the boys develop as both footballers and individuals, and to see at first hand the enjoyment playing football at Burghfield gives them. There have been many highlights including a great night at the Madejski earlier in the season watching the boys do the guard of honour and taking half time penalties, but in particular it was great last year to see our newest team the Buffalos rapidly go from a group who could barely string a couple of passes together to a team thumping their opposition 14-0!
